Collective knowledge and its articulations, oral transmission of knowledge, African-descendant diaspora, migration, shift and colonization-repression dynamics, poetic production, visibility layers, a place of belonging, mediation, translation/non-translation processes and its meanings: these are all key concepts in the work of Ana Lira, a journalist, photographer, and specialist in Culture Critics and Theory. How can invisibility be a form of power? This is one of the questions Lira pursues in her Chama (2020) project, a cycle of sensorial experimentations created by means of poetry and music from the African-Amerindian diaspora, through which participants enter into contact with shared contents and, without the imposition of translation processes, build other means of connections with them. Being divided between the exhibition site, where the sound installation is located, and the space for collective celebration and mediation of black territories in Porto Alegre, Chama articulates the artist’s key concepts, by means of what she calls vivência-das-entrelinhas (a between the lines experience).
