Coleção das artistas
COCO is an art collective founded in 2016 by four Uruguayan artists (Natalia de León, Lucía Ehrlich, María Mascaró and Catalina Bunge). Curation, performance, photography, video, painting, and installation are their tools to question and reshape the dominant artistic version and convert the symbolic imagery of our world. Currently, the artist’s work together from Madrid, Paris, and Montevideo. At the Biennial they present the installation Iletradxs, a proposal to subvert the hegemonic archive of art. By markings in catalogues and art magazines, they expose the annulment of female artists. The stickers on each magazine, catalogue, or book, highlight the percentage of artists included in each publication. A smart and efficient way to stress the inequality of the art world as its selection criteria are white and patriarchal.
